The brand
new Apple's iPhone houses a A6 chip that
boasts of a 2x faster CPU and graphics and all
the power is packed in a chip that is 22 per
cent smaller. Apple claims that the new chip
offers 2x better performance across the board.
But who gave iPhone 5 its power and elegance?
The A6 processor inside is in fact a dual-core
Cortex-A15 manufactured by Samsung
Electronics Co. Ltd. The A6 chip is made of
Apple in Samsung's 32-nm HKMG manufacturing
process, says an analysts at Nomura Equity
Research.
Cortex-A15 is the highest performance
processor core made by ARM and Apple is first
tech brand to house it in a smartphone. Back in
2011, Sasmung had started to sample ARM ARM
Cortex-A15 processor, the Exynos 5250 which
has Mali graphics and was meant for power
packed tablets which has clock speed of 2GHz
and can deliver double the performance of
dual-core Cortex-A9 based Exynos clocked at
1.5 GHz.
