Media App Info : BBC launches its new Flash-free media player for Android


When Adobe Flash said its goodbye to
Android last month, the effect was felt by third party apps like BBC’s, that relied on the ubiquitous player to stream contents to Android devices from its website. With Flash gone from popular devices like the Google Nexus 7 tablet, which doesn’t support it, BBC has decided to develop its own media player that removes the Flash dependency.

The new app, called BBC Media Player, has been released on Google Play, and it will become the de facto video and audio player when you browse the BBC website on your Android phones and tablets. The company’s Executive Product Manager for POD Mobile Management, Chris Yanda, said that the BBC Media Player is meant to be a media playback solution that will work with on devices running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, as well as older versions of the OS.
