In many ways (in some parts of the country) I
do believe we’ve gotten a wee bit too PC,
too over-sensitive to saying the wrong thing
or accidentally causing offense. On the other
hand, I also believe (very strongly!) that being
over-sensitive to calling kids “retard” or
using the “n-word” or calling kids by
homophobic slurs is a whole lot better than the
converse, which was the way it was when I
was a kid. And one thing I support 100%, with
no hesitation, is the much greater sensitivity
we have these days to bullying behavior.
I think bullying behavior is incredibly
destructive, and as we can see in business and
politics and many other areas, it unfortunately
carries over into the adult arena all too easily.
The best way to root it out is to catch it early,
don’t you think? And you know what I’m
going to say now: There’s an app for that!
