Opera 12 Gets Speedy, Plus More Secured
The overall focus is on speed and
security. After being a key player in the
mobile space, Opera, with its version 12,
is looking forward to pitch itself in the
desktop environment too.

The version 12 of the Norwegian browser, Opera, designed for all
desktop platforms like Windows, Mac and Linux
has evolved itself in terms of speed and
security. Though a bit late, following the
footsteps of Mozilla's Firefox Web browser,
Opera has included the new privacy option
known as 'Do Not Track' feature in which a line
of code is sent to websites indicating that the
user does not want to be tracked. Then, it is up
to the website to honour the request.
Opera has been one of the key players in the
mobile space but when it comes to the desktop
space, the browser has to really gear up. With
its latest version, Opera seems to have put in
a lot of effort in this direction. Apart from
enhanced security, the new version has also
included loads of goodies like default and
customizable themes, Opera CPU feature, Photo
Booth, Polaroid, FaceKat; to woo netizens. “A
new feature known as Opera CPU is added in
this version. This feature inform users that
among the running browsing tabs, which one is
using the most network resources. Also, Cross
Origin Resource Sharing (CORS) is included in
this version,” said Shwetank Dixit, Web
evangelist, Opera Software.
