Ice Cream Sandwich Aka Android 4.0 To
Phase Out Soon?
Reports suggest that Android 4.0.4 will
have a shorter shelf life than
Gingerbread, while Jelly Bean is expected
to conquer.

The journey began with Android Beta, continued painstakingly with
Gingerbread and today we see the ever rising
Android appetite over the globe and the Ice
Cream Sandwich flavour has only taken the
demand to its zenith trace. But the adoption
saga is not as smooth as expected. As per the
Android Developers' reports, the adoption rate at the beginning of the year was 0.4 per cent, which thankfully increased to 6.7 per cent, as of June 1. As compared to Gingerbread, this growth resembles a caterpillar walk. Also, Jelly Bean is around the corner, which may subtly disrupt this growth rate.

Original Equipment Manufactures are likely to
be blamed for the delay. They, first skin the
OS, then test it making sure everything is OK
and then release it. This takes time as they
have to create the same for different versions of the same phone to be sold in different countries for different carriers. But still, we are not too far from reaching to the stage where more than 50 per cent phones would be running the ICS upgrade.
