US Military Approves Use Of BlackBerry 7 Smartphones

Canadian company Research In Motion(RIM) has announced the US
Department of Defense (DoD) approval for the use of BlackBerry 7
smartphones. The approval
allows all DoD customers to use BlackBerry Bold 9900 and 9930 (touch
screen with keyboard), BlackBerry Torch
9810 (touch screen with slide out keyboard), BlackBerry Torch 9850 and
9860 (full screen touch screen) and BlackBerry Curve 9360 (keyboard)
on DoD networks. Though army and other defence depart-ment personnel
have been usingBlackBerry phones for long, each new version of the
device must undergo
successful testing through Army labs for use in sensitive roles where
a data breach could endanger national security.
