Entertainment Controversy : Muslim outfits protest against Kamal Hasan's Vishwaroopam

Muslim outfits
here have decided to hold siege of
all five theatres where Kamal
Hasan's Vishwaroopam is set be
screened on Friday. Speaking to
journalists, H Shahul, district
president of Tamil Nadu Thouheed
Jamaath (TNTJ) said the siege will
not be just a token protest against
a single screening but they will
stop the threatres from screening
all the shows for the entire day.
He said the movie had degraded
their community to an extreme low
and the decision to protest was
taken after the Muslim outfits saw
a preview of the film on Jan 21.
According to Shahul, the film
shows Islam and Muslims as
terrorists and that they are fed
extremism right from the womb.
The protesters were also taking
legal measures to halt the
screening by approaching the court
and the administration.

India Android Social/Woman Cause App : Nashik youths develop 'Me Against Rape' Android app for women's safety Apps | Applications

Three youths from Nashik have come with an
app that women can use as an emergency alert system alarm and seek assistance from friends or family in time of distress. The software called 'Me Against Rape' has been developed in view of the recent incidents of crime against women.

Makers of the app, Gunwant Battashe (23),
engineer Anup Unnikrishanan (24) and graphic
designer Jayesh Bankar (23) say the Me Against Rape app is available for Android-based smartphones for free.

The app features a one-touch helpline facility, recording facility, and can send location and time details every 10 minutes — including latitude, longitude, address and Google Maps link. The developers of the app believe the app would be very helpful in fighting against atrocities to women.

Storage App Info :MediaFire's new Android app comes with 50 GB of free storage

MediaFire, a cloud storage service that's less
stingy with free space than some of its
competitors, is now available for Android.

Just like its desktop counterpart and iOS apps, MediaFire for Android comes with 50 GB of free storage. It lets you upload files using the built-in file browser or using a gallery view for photos and videos. Users can send files to other apps, view certain types of files directly within the app, and get links to their files for sharing with other users. There's also a built-in camera for taking photos and videos and uploading them directly.

Beware of limitations
Keep in mind, though, that MediaFire does have some limitations that other storage services don't. For free accounts, there's a 200 MB limit on file sizes, and the service is ad-supported.

Something odd has happened to Android.
While its growth rate continues to grow (yes, a
second-order change; sales are accelerating),
we aren't seeing the changing of the guard
from the older version to the newer one that
we have over the past two years - such as
the end of 2010, when "Froyo" (version 2.2)
replaced "Eclair" (version 2.1) and then the end
of 2011 when Froyo was replaced by
"Gingerbread" (version 2.3).

Going by the statistics shown on Google's
platform versions page (which shows the
version of Android being used by devices
connecting to Google Play in the two weeks up
to 1 October, and is revised monthly),
Gingerbread has been the most-used version
of Android since November 2011. At that point
it was running on 42% of devices connecting to
Google Play (then the Android Market), just
passing the 40.9% using Froyo.

Tech Unbelievable : Android app releases 760,000 users’s personal data, contacts online

A Japanese smartphone app for Android-
powered devices has reportedly leaked the
personal data of some 760,000 users on the
internet. The address book application, Zenkoku
Denwacho (“Nationwide Address Book”),
was reported to the Tokyo Metropolitan Police
Department on Saturday by NetAgent Co., an
information security company, for the breach
of user privacy. The application’s developer
has stated that the leak was only temporary,
and the data has already been deleted, however
the Tokyo police say they are still planning an
investigation.
The latest version of the application has been
available for free on Google’s Android
platform since September. Its main function is
to allow users to search for information that
is published in telephone companies address
books, like those from Nippon Telegraph and
Telephone Corp., for example. The application
also allows for the exchanging of personal data
between users, like the names, addresses, and
phone numbers in their personal address books,
through a rented server.

Fashion App Info: Monsoon launches loyalty app

High street womenswear retailer Monsoon has
teamed up with Ikano Financial Services to
launch a loyalty app, with the aim of reducing
loyalty scheme operating costs as well as
making the scheme more accessible and
convenient for customers.

The new loyalty app, which marks the first in
UK fashion retail, has been developed by retail
loyalty specialists Ikano and allows customers
to join the Monsoon Reward Scheme, alert them
to Monsoon promotions, as well allowing
members to use their phones as a reward card,
negating the need for carrying a plastic card.

The free app, which works across multiple
smartphone platforms including iPhone,

RIM shows off new BlackBerry OS with improved features

RIM has showed off a new build of the
BlackBerry mobile OS at BlackBerry Jan
2012 Conference in the USA.
Research In Motion (RIM) has showed off a
new build of the BlackBerry mobile operating
system at the BlackBerry Jam Conference in
San Jose, California (USA). The new BlackBerry
10 build was shown having an improved
browser, calendar, contacts and camera
applications brought along a totally new
BlackBerry App World and a BlackBerry
Messenger version.
The new BlackBerry 10 beta software running
on a new BlackBerry 10 Alpha B prototype
device was showcased by Thorsten Heins, the
chief executive officer of RIM.
The new BlackBerry 10 build also has a new
user interface, dubbed as Flow. Other
improvements include fresh and well-
optimised home screen. In past, RIM hinted that
Android apps support for might be axed in
future. However, the new BlackBerry 10 will
indeed support the Android apps albeit with the
BlackBerry Runtime for the Android. Basically,

The e-reader and tablet markets are
sorted, right? Amazon owns the e-
reader business with its Kindle, Apple's
iPad dominates in tablets, with a bit of
room at the cheaper end for Google's
Nexus and the Kindle Fire. But a giant US
book chain begs to differ.

Barnes and Noble has unveiled its plans for an
assault on the UK market this morning. It will
be offering British customers its Nook range of e-readers, along with new colour tablet
computers, the Nook HD and the Nook HD+.
I had a briefing earlier this week, and got a
chance to look at the devices. At first glance
they seem worthy competitors to the Kindles,
iPads and Nexuses. The Nook Simple Touch
Glowlight, for instance, is a touchscreen e-
reader with an inbuilt light which enables you
to read in bed in the dark without disturbing
your partner.

Backing up the impressive hardware is the
Barnes and Noble online store, offering 2.5
million books, all of the leading newspapers and magazines and plenty of movies and TV series.

aluminium device, according to traders in these markets.

While you can actually drive the car around
once you pay the price, those shelling out this
neat sum can't just start making calls. They
have to jump through hoops to make their SIM
card fit the phone's specifications.

The iPhone 5 has a slot for a so-called nano
